Summer Camping at designated areas in Tokomaru Bay are open until April.
Summer Camping at designated areas in Tokomaru Bay are open until April. A permit and fee is required before you set up camp.
Freedom Camping is only allowed outside of the daylight saving period - between Easter weekend to the start of daylight savings. Good fishing and surfing beach, but care is required when swimming.
There are 2 areas available for Summer Camping:
♦ North end of the bay on Beach Road.
♦ South end of the bay, turn off on Arthur Street to Waiotu Road.
You can Freedom Camp at the 2 restricted sites outside the summer camping season:
♦ At the south end, Waiotu Rd, camping is only allowed in a self-contained vehicle.
♦ At the north end, opposite Potae Street, camping is allowed.
♦ Maximum stay is 3 nights over any 30-day period.
